Spirit of the West

About Us

We love what we do!
We're the best at it!
That's not just our opinion.

Spirit of the West was founded in 2004 by Paul & Chelsea Rivers. Though the company was only formed at that time, it was born decades earlier, in the mind of Paul who is an avid horseman.

Paul has devoted himself to the care and maintenance of horses since he was 6 years old. It has always been his dream to own a company that would allow him to spend all day with these beautiful, graceful creatures. With the encouragement of his friends and his wife, Paul finally laid it all on the line and started the ball rolling.

In addition to trails rides on the most beautiful beaches in the world, Spirit of the West offers shodding services, starting of colts, boarding, problem solving in difficult horses and advanced training.

The name of the company has many meanings for Paul & Chelsea. While many agree that horses have a mostly unbreakable Spirit, Paul & Chelsea are devoted Christians who, likewise, have an unbreakable faith. Then there is the notion that horses have long been associated with the Old West but coincidentally, Paul was born and raised in West Bay, Grand Cayman where they reside and operate the business with their twin sons and baby girl.

Check out Chelsea's personal website! She is now the published author of "Hurricane Ivan: The Experience" a docu-novel about one of the most devastating natural disasters to affect the Cayman Islands. Written in the third person, this novel tells the story of 4 families who actually survived and their personal experiences with a Category 5 hurricane. We hope you plan a trip to Cayman soon and look forward to seeing you when you arrive!
